John Heaton
John Heaton is a Partner in the Litigation Department at Bannister Preston. He graduated in law from Liverpool University and qualified as a Solicitor in 1981. John specialises in Road Transport Law and Criminal Defence work.
He undertakes prosecution work for the Vehicle & Operator Services Agency, an executive agency of the Department for Transport and also represents the Traffic Commissioners in Appeals against their decisions in driver conduct cases. John appears as an Advocate in the Magistrates Court and in Public Inquiries before the Traffic Commissioners. He is also an Advocate in Appeals to the Crown Court and in the Transport Tribunal.
He is recommended as a “Leader in his field” for Road Transport (Regulatory) in Chambers UK 2008.
He has a wide experience of defence criminal work including homicide and prosecutions following serious road traffic accidents.
John is also experienced in general litigation with a particular expertise and knowledge of mortgage possession and mortgage fraud work, acting for both lending institutions and borrowers
